Updated 14 Oct 08The Vanuatu Missions for 2009 has been confirmed as Amy, Anna, Bex, Casia, Courtney, Dino, Gavin, Glenn, Karlton, Kelly, Julie, Mitchell, Sarah and Susie. Our upcoming events include: * Coffee and baking - being sold every Sunday morning at Kumeu Baptist starting very shortly * Family sports day - Sunday 16 November, afternoon * Parachute Music Festival fundraiser * Team trip away (Waitangi Weekend, 6-8 Feb 2009 Click here to read more about the trip! ![]() Key Application Dates: Applications have closed now for the 2009 team. Location: Epi Island, Vanuatu, will be our main base although a few days may also be spent on the mainland. The villages are very basic – most have grass huts, no electricity or running water. The team will most likely stay together in a local ‘Youth With A Mission’ base or church building.Cost: Approximately $2200 + personal costs (doctor’s injections, passport, spending money). Actual cost depends on the cost of flights. The intention is to fundraise these funds both collectively and individually. This will need to be paid for in stages and at each point the total paid to date is non-refundable. Your travel insurance will however cover you for any unexpected emergency that prevents you from travel. Purpose of trip: - To develop a heart for the un-reached and to develop skills that will enable us to evangelise and reach out to those in our local communities back home ![]() - To show God’s love and mercy to those less fortunate than us - To encourage spiritual growth, confidence and maturity through hands on involvement in evangelism and mercy ministries - To gain better understanding of our pacific neighbours, their culture and how to relate and befriend them Main outreach:• Building a water tank for local village • Children’s ministries (games, sports, dramas, evangelism, dance, etc. with local children) • Health Clinic & Education Rough Itinerary Each day will be broken into 3 parts. In most instances, 2 parts will be ministry, and 1 part of the day will be for rest/team time. The first few evenings will be used for training. Out of the 14 days, approx 2 whole days will be days off. On Sundays we will attend the local church.
