| Have you ever seen the wonderful sight of 2 litres of milk being power chucked from the stomach of Joe? Well that was some of the craziness and fun times at this years end of year youth camp at Highams beach, South Head. 30 or so dudes and lasses convoyed up after crashing BK and Maccas for the good stuff. Everyone got a few scares in the deer shed that night, especially Ruth. Whilst there were no injuries or bulls the game were exciting and team building. The same teams were kept throughout Saturday so you became mates with your team through the ‘Naki Challenge’. This year the ‘Naki Challenge’ was set up with five different team challenges, each hosted by the oldies – Kharma, Cappers, Andy, Graham, Reuben, Jono, Anton etc. All of them focused on teamwork and encouragement. There was paintball on a very open pine forest floor. A lot of bruises and bloodshed there, but it kept everyone’s heart racing. There was a blind folded rope course where teams had to get there cup of water as full as possible to the finish line. A peg treasure hunt with a bribery challenge with found chocolate. Also there was a log lifting challenge and finally a stretcher building and using it exercise - that was a killer for most of the teams. Everyone was treated to a lamb on a spit that night and a bomb fire – literally! Some of Noel’s finest acetylene bombs found their way into the camp grounds, and deafening explosions ripped through the silence. Stopping your heartbeat for an instant and sending everyone shrieking and packing themselves. Good clean fun! You bet it was. That night Rebecca spoke about her life and encouraged everyone with her message. Shinanagens aside the camp was a great team building camp and very adventurous with numerous challenges, games, and fun had by all. The ‘Naki Challenge’ and camp overall had a positive, healthy atmosphere, and was a great success! Big ups to everyone who took part, the people behind the scenes – the awesome cooks, Noel for the use of the farm, Kent for organizing it, Bryce and Nic for running it etc. Good times and great memories Sam Rodewyk |
